Eve teasing

Eve teasing is a euphemistic term, primarily used in Indian English, that refers to public sexual harassment or sexual assault of women by men. It is a misogynistic and dismissive term used to normalize and downplay the seriousness of these acts. The term 'eve' here is often believed to be an acronym for 'Easily Wrought Virtue Enticed', which implies that women are vulnerable targets who provoke such behavior from men. Despite its prevalence, especially in India, this term perpetuates rape culture and trivializes the trauma experienced by victims. Alternative terms to use include 'sexual harassment' or 'gender-based violence'.
